About Hazarduari Palace & Museum
The Hazarduari Palace, meaning 'Palace with a Thousand Doors' (though 100 are false), is the magnificent centerpiece of Murshidabad, the former capital of Bengal. This imposing three-storey palace was built in the 19th century for Nawab Nazim Humayun Jah in the Indo-European style.
Today, it serves as a museum with an exquisite collection of artifacts from the Nawab era, including antique furniture, paintings, portraits, and a vast armoury. Its sprawling galleries and opulent Durbar Hall offer a fascinating glimpse into the life and times of the Nawabs of Bengal.
